When Lalaji held his hand out to hold me - Lalaji ka haath badhana

Hello everybody!

My name is Raldu, a devotee to nobody and nothing. Religious and spiritual at the same time, but not bound by them. As my name suggests, I am a freelancer. During one of the everyday days, when I was out with my herd, I dozed off. I had a very strange dream. There was a hill, mossy, slippery, reclining, and smooth. I was slipping down in the most comfortable way, looking up but at nothing. Suddenly, I noticed a man in a brownish or grayish, clock-like ensemble, more like an ascetic, sadhu, or a guru. I looked at him. He started talking to me.

Where are you going?

I heard him, but I didn't know that I had to reply to him. It seemed unnecessary.

He looked at me and asked again, with an urgency in his voice.

Where are you going (Kahan ja rhi ho?)

I had nothing to say. This time, he held out his hand and asked me to take it.

Hold my hand (Mera hath pakad lo.)

I continued to look at him, still unable to understand him. I noticed he was not on the hill. He was in the air, and nothing seemed unusual about his being in the air. I found it normal. What seemed abnormal was what he was talking to me, first. Next, why did he want me to hold his hands?

Why are you sliding down (Neeche kyon ja rhi ho? Mera hath pakad lo.)

The urgency in his voice was increasing. I still failed to understand what was going on. He looked at me with the most beseeching eyes, voice, and expression that I noticed but could not understand.

Why don't you hold my hand? (Mera haath kyon nhi pakad rhi ho?)

I, being too rustic a person, was in no position to understand who he was, why he was asking me to hold his hand, what was happening, and why I was not in a position to understand anything. He seemed alien to me, a person I couldn't recognize, a man I couldn't relate to. He seemed helpless. But one thing was clear to me: I was sliding down in the most effortless way, with no idea where I was going and, most importantly, who this person was. The urgency in his voice, and especially his eyes, was becoming intense and helpless. He said again, almost pleading.

Please, hold my hand.

I knew something was going on, but I couldn't understand what. He had asked me multiple times to hold his hand. I still could not understand what was going on. He asked again.

Hold my hand (Mera haath pakad lo.)

Something happened because I cannot claim that I deliberately held my hand out, but somehow my hands were held out and grasped his legs. And during this whole time, I was sliding down that mossy and slithery slope, and he remained in the air, coming down with me.

The moment I held his legs, he heaved a sigh of relief as if his life hinged on it. Somehow, my weight seemed too much, or the depth was too low; he could not take me up. He was still in the air. Suddenly, two more people appeared in the air, each holding one of his arms from the shoulder and pulling him up, with me holding onto his legs without any awareness or conscious effort.

Later, I found out that the man who pulled me up was Lalaji. Now I can make a claim: mere Lalaji and the other two were the people I recognise today as Babuji and Chariji.

I still had no understanding of what was going on, but this is how I was saved by Lalaji from what I still do not know. And on top of everything, I still don't know what happened and why he saved me. But one thing is certain: he saved me from something I could never have known. For me, it is more than enough that he thought of me to be saved and saved me by going to such an extent.

I don't know anything about his stature, but one thing that I am sure of is that he is my LALAJI.

Raldu ke LALAJI.

That's all for today, folks. Will get back to you with one of my interactions with them. Stay blessed!
